42 Shells (Shell, 1942)
Gas station east of El Paso in Texas, visited by the artist.  1940 Ford DeLuxe convertible; 1941 Ford Super DeLuxe coupe; 1938 Ford truck.

Artist Notes:
"There are 42 shells in the painting. The shells that adorned the lower corners of the roof were made out of concrete and very few have survived. According to Shell archives, this station was built in 1938. It was found intact and still in use in west Texas."
