The Flirts
The Saturday Evening Post -- July 26, 1941
Rockwell biographer Christopher Finch observes that
"The stop light reflected in the back of the truck's rear view mirror is a nice touch, spelling out the situation."
Donald Stoltz, President of the Norman Rockwell Museum, tells us that
"This was the first Post cover that Rockwell didn't sign his name to, but his distinctive style and the initials on the car give away the creator."
Finch also points out the difference in the painting style between the truckers and the girl, having
"the effect of making her seem like a figure of fantasy."
