STAN STOKES
The California Classics Collection
Stan Stokes is a third generation Californian who developed a passion for cars, trains, boats and planes - and art - at an early age. He has been painting professionally for more than 35 years, living in both Northern and Southern California.
After studying art, Stan focused on landscapes of Western desert and mountain scenes, but eventually became an award-winning aviation artist. Noted for his incredible detail and striking realism, Stokes' canvases have a lifelike, three-dimensional effect that often leaves viewers spellbound.
In 1998 Stokes began a series of car paintings based upon his boyhood memories. Car Art is pleased to bring you this California Classics Collection: 17 scenes depicting classic American cars in classic Californian settings from the 1930s to the 1960s. They are nostalgic portrayals of the Golden Years of the Golden State, when the American Dream was to move west to savor the Californian lifestyle. The locations range from Lake Tahoe in the north to San Diego in the south.
To quote his publisher: "Stan is a workaholic who really loves what he does for a living and is constantly trying to improve." That constant pursuit of excellence is evident in every painting in this collection. They are available as limited edition giclée prints on either fine artist’s canvas or 200 lb. acid-free watercolor paper.
Stokes' original paintings hang in some of the most prestigious private and public collections in the world, including the Reagan Library in California and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC.
