Cavallino Rampante
The iconic Cavallino Rampante (Prancing Horse) symbolizes the legendary Modena marque. Originally emblazoned on the SPAD XIII fighter of Francesco Baracca, ace of aces shot down during the Great War, the equine emblem was adopted in 1932 by Enzo Ferrari at the suggestion of the airman's mother, Countess Paolina: "Ferrari, why don't you put my son's rampant horse on your car? It will bring you luck." Black was the color retained for the thoroughbred's image, but use of the gold field, the color of Modena, was Enzo's idea.
