1909 Philadelphia 200 Race
October 9th, 1909: The second Philadelphia 200 mile road race was held in Fairmount Park -- with approximately 8,900 acres, the largest landscaped city park in the world.

The American driver George Robertson, shown here, led all but two of the 25 laps on this 8 mile course, with a winning time of 3 hours, 38 minutes, 58.8 seconds.

This 9“ x 15½“ original is painted in acrylics on paper, mounted on 15“ x 17“ stiff cardboard and signed 'H' on the lower left.

Peter Helck in a letter to Walter Gotschke dated January 29th 1971:

"I am sending you a little color sketch. It shows George Robertson (one of our best) on his winning 90-Simplex in the 1909 200-mile Fairmount Park road race in Philadelphia. These races were held annually from 1908 thru' 1911. Robertson also won the first, with a 40 hp Locomobile."
