1938 Donington Park Grand Prix: Nuvolari driving an Auto Union Type D

"Donington Park can rightfully claim to be the oldest Grand Prix racing circuit in England having hosted at end of of the 1930s what later became known as the 'Hitler Grand Prix.' The sheer potency and professionalism of the German works teams of Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union were in utter contrast to the home entries and swept all before them to complete victory with inevitability. The present owner of Donington, Tom Wheatcroft, remembers going to the circuit as a young schoolboy witnessing the victory of Nuvolari in 1938 and retains the strongest memories of the likes of Carracciola, Seaman and Nuvolari steering their silver mounts flat out around the narrow twisting circuit."
